Ontario’s aquaculture industry lost one of its visionaries with the passing of Orval Ford on August 3. Orval pioneered several of Ontario’s first land-based trout farms which are still in operation today.
Passed away suddenly at the Owen Sound Hospital on Saturday, August 3, 2019. Orval Ford of Hanover, in his 86th year. Orval was a long time business man in Hanover first as an electrician and then owning and operating the Blue Spring Trout Farm. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. Beloved husband of Doreen for 63 years. Dear father of Bill and Ken, both of Hanover. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Predeceased by his son John and 2 sisters.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, September 14 from 12 – 5pm at the Hanover Legion, 493 8th Ave, Hanover, Ontario.
